What a fearsome prospect this would be.
Following St Vincent’s All-Ireland club championship semi final loss at the weekend, Diarmuid Connolly will be keeping his head down for the next while yet.
However, if he wants to unleash some pent-up frustration, he could do worse than have a run-out on a rugby pitch.
The Dublin forward took time out from his semi final preparations, late last week, to bring the Sam Maguire on tour to Cabinteely GAA and Seapoint RFC’s clubhouses, speak to the members and pose for some snaps.
One image, shared by the Dublin rugby club, shows that Connolly certainly has the physical makings of being a hard-carrying inside centre.
Very timely with the arrival of our newest recruit @dermoc123 @cabinteelygaa @GraduateDublin @Cabinteely_FC @RossOCK @SportsJOEdotie pic.twitter.com/voEhcymIeK

The picture got the attention of one of Seapoint’s most famous, fictional son:
For the last time, no, Diarmuid Connolly was not the model for the cover of my last book. How many times? @dermoc123 pic.twitter.com/ulozWuFoNl

We'd say @leinsterrugby and @IrishRugby would be keeping a close eye on this fella @dermoc123 https://t.co/m79h5eFOkb

One wonders if Jim Gavin would be willing to allow Connolly another weekend away from county duty to line out for Seapoint RFC in their Ulster Bank League Division 2C clash.
Robbie Henshaw could have some competition for that No.12 jersey.
