There are certain “types” when it comes to professional mixed martial artists.
You’ve got the respectful traditionalist like Lyoto Machida, the gritty wrestler like Chris Weidman and the brash trash-talker.
Conor McGregor certainly falls into the latter category alongside a number of other mouthy fighters but that path was paved years ago when Tito Ortiz was cutting his teeth in the octagon.
The former UFC light heavyweight champion revealed that he is a fan of the way that McGregor sells fights but believes that the popular Irishman went too far on the promotional world tour during which he snatched the featherweight belt from upcoming opponent Jose Aldo.
“I’m out doing the interview, I’m out doing everything. It’s not just a factor of getting in the cage and fighting but going out to do the promo and sell the fight.
“I don’t think there’s anybody in this business that does that better than me. Maybe… Is it Gregor McConor or Conor McGregor?
“He actually does a really good job. There’s been some lines crossed so I hope Aldo kicks his ass but at the same time, he’s a fast talker and talks great. He sells it good so congratulations to him.”
Fast-forward to 6:11 to hear Ortiz discuss McGregor
