BREAKING

The Manchester United hierarchy have reached a verdict on whether to sack Michael Carrick, according to multiple reports.

The former Red Devils midfielder has been under immense pressure following a 4-1 thrashing by Como 1907 in the Champions League was compounded by a further loss to Bournemouth on Sunday.

Carrick was appointed in January as Ruben Amorim's interim replacement, before leading the club through one of the most positive periods in recent history, as they secured Champions League qualification, and a third place finish.

The new season has been a different story however, with the club on an eight-game winless run, and amid rumours of trouble in the dressing room, stoked by public criticisms of tactics, and investment made by Bruno Fernandes and Lisandro Martinez respectively over the past fortnight.

However, despite the situation, Manchester United want to give Carrick and his sqaud the chance to turn things around.

He has not been sacked and will be in charge for this weekend's game against Chelsea.

As detailed by the reporter Rob Dorsett, of Sky Sports: "Michael Carrick will be in charge of for Saturday’s game v Chelsea. He has taken training this morning. Hugely surprising news."

This is a breaking story and will be updated with more news as we get it.
