Scully fitness in Galway have taken down their mural of Conor McGregor
Once the figurehead of Irish fighting, Conor McGregor’s brand and image is being eroded at an alarming rate – following Nikita Hand’s victory in her civil case over sexual assault charges against the MMA fighter.
Tesco, SuperValu, Centa, Spar, Mace and Londis have all pulled McGregor’s former whiskey brand, Proper 12, from their shelves.
The owner of the brand, Proximo Spirits, who purchased the brand from McGregor in 2021, had already announced that they will stop using the MMA fighter’s name and image on the drink.
Interactive IO, creators of Hitman: World of Assassination, have also removed McGregor as a character in their game.
After losing over 100,000 followers on Instagram, a mural of McGregor on the wall of Galway gym Scully Fitness has been removed.
On their Facebook page, the gym released a video of the image being painted over with the caption ‘The double champ does in fact not do what he wants’.
They then posted to their followers asking, ‘Mural is gone
What would everyone like in its place?’.
After losing his case in the High Court, McGregor wrote on social media: “People want to hear from me, I needed time. I know I made mistakes. Six years ago, I should have never responded to her outreaches. I should have shut the party down. I should never have stepped out on the woman I love the most in the world.
“That’s all on me. As much as I regret it, everything that happened that night was consensual and all the witnesses present swore to that under oath. I have instructed my legal team to appeal the decision. I can’t go back and I will move forward. I am beyond grateful to my family, friends and supporters all over the world who have stayed by my side.
“That’s it. No more. Getting back to the gym- the fight game awaits!”
