SBG head coach John Kavanagh is back home.
And there’ll be no prizes for guessing what his students will have been asking him to teach after he guided Conor McGregor to interim featherweight gold a fortnight ago.
While McGregor’s front kick to the body and Paddy Holohan’s triangle set-up will all have been popular techniques, it was the guillotine escape of The Notorious that seemed to be in highest demand.
Kavanagh posted a video on Facebook of his SBG students drilling the sequence in which McGregor turtled up, and spun counter-clockwise into side control on the opposite side before Chad Mendes could get his legs in place properly to complete the choke or follow the body of McGregor into a mounted guillotine.
Slick stuff.
Great to be back at @SBG_Ireland tonight coaching. Figured this would be a popular sequence to teach!
