If there was a betting market on potential opponents for CM Punk’s MMA debut, we’d be lumping our money on Mickey Gall.
The New Jersey welterweight has emerged as the top candidate to give the former WWE superstar, real name Phil Brooks, his first taste of action.
He’s not the high-profile name that many were hoping for but is definitely the most likely after calling out Brooks on Dana White’s new show Lookin’ for a Fight.

White has recently revealed that, having found top prospect Sage Northcutt on the series’ pilot, an opponent for Brooks was next on his agenda.
And Gall, who trains under Jim and Dan Miller, is looking like that guy as he won his first professional fight in regional promotion Dead Serious MMA via first-round submission.

After going 1-0, Gall took the mic and urged White to give him a shot against Brooks in the UFC and who’s to say that it won’t happen as he fits the bill perfectly.

He’s a young prospect with amateur experience, he’s not too experienced professionally which would have led to reluctance from athletic commissions in signing off on a bout with Brooks and he fights at welterweight which is the likeliest weight division for Brooks.
We’re calling it – Brooks v Gall happens in 2016!
