Imagine, for a second, a world tour with Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz.
It’s not exactly a likely scenario but the potential for trash-talk has us salivating as both men are the best of the best at mental warfare in the run up to fights.
Diaz takes on Michael Johnson at UFC on Fox this weekend and during a media scrum ahead of the bout, he claimed that ‘The Notorious’ is merely repeating the same words that Diaz did in the past but he’s being rewarded while Diaz was punished.
“Conor McGregor’s been saying all the same shit that I’ve been saying for the last five years,” Diaz said as filmed by MMAJunkie. “And the UFC is pushing that.
“And then when I say some shit like that they’re like ‘put him behind the banner, put him on the end-of-year card.'”

McGregor has spoken about a desire to move up to lightweight in the UFC and that’s something that Diaz would welcome as he believes the Irishman stole his trash-talking style.
“That’s what that guy did,” Diaz added. “He peeped game, he stole the blueprint on what to do and he’s spitting it out.
“He’s doing a good job of it but I’m the money fight. That shit came from right here. But they’re backing it and hiding me behind the corner.

“They know where the real fight’s at and he knows when he talks all that money fight shit, he knows where it’s at. It’s right here.
“It’s not these funny guys that are fighting in the main event [Rafael dos Anjos and Donald Cerrone]. The main event’s right here.”
