It pays to be friends with the boss man.

We know that Conor McGregor was far from 100% going into his interim title fight with Chad Mendes in July but we never knew that the UFC were well aware of his torn ACL ahead of the bout.

On Monday’s edition of The Joe Rogan Experience, UFC president Dana White revealed that he had sent McGregor to Germany to receive stem cell injections on his injured knee.

“He [McGregor] fought the Chad Mendes fight with a really blown out knee,” White explained.

“He went over to Germany and got those [stem cell] shots. He did some in California too, he did do some in L.A. when he was out in Vegas.

“And that’s all he needed. He did that and he did his own physical therapy and he brought the knee right back.”

White has undergone similar treatment in the past as he travelled to Germany to get his Meniere’s disease treated which is done by removing the platelets from the patient’s blood before the blood is re-injected into the affected area.

The UFC president has sworn by that treatment and it clearly paid off for his close friend and biggest money-maker as McGregor finished Mendes in the second round.
