He can use the green jacket to hide in after this horror round
Jordan Spieth had the golf world at his feet less than seven days ago, when he claimed the Masters at Augusta, breaking all sorts of records along the way. The 21-year-old lit up the first major of the year by shooting an incredible 18 under, matching Tiger Woods record score set back in 1997.
He’s back in action this week at the RBC Heritage event, but he’s probably thinking he should have taken some time off after shooting a 74 to tie for 95th after day one.
The opening nine holes went ok as he was even par right up until the 6th where he hit his first bogey and then parred the rest until the turn.
One over wasn’t so bad until he managed to bogey the 11th, and then double bogey the 14th, before a birdie at the next and further pars saw him end the day on a 74 and eight shots behind joint leaders Graeme McDowell and Matt Every.
McDowell shot an impressive 66 round to share the lead at five under while the Irishman and Every are just one ahead of Sangmoon Bae.
