Very strange
Getting injured in a game is a pretty normal occurrence for anyone that plays sport at any level.
But to get injured in the warm up must be frustrating, especially if it’s the day of a championship game with a chance to play in a Leinster semi-final.
Westmeath are facing Wexford today in Cusack Park in Mullingar, but already the home side have had to make a change to their starting 15. Corner back Shane Power suffered what sounds like a bizarre injury in the pre-match puck around.
Westmeath player has been struck by a ball in the warm up and is seems badly injured. Medics called in to assist. Still on the ground.

Obviously the situation was quite a worry for the player and his team-mates and he was not able to take part in the game.
No 2 Shane Power is the player and is sitting up now.

He was struck in the face and is not starting. Major loss to Westmeath to add to two other injuries. Round of applause from the attendance.

Hopefully Shane isn’t too badly hurt and he’ll be back playing hurling in no time.
UPDATE: Westmeath were then rocked by another serious injury when Derek McNicholas, who shipped a heavy knock and was stretchered off.
Both Power and McNicholas were taken to hospital for precautionary checks.
