If Mohammed won’t come to the hill, we’ll bring the Hill to Mohammed.
Ever wondered what it would be like to stand among an army of Dublin fans on the GAA’s most iconic piece of real estate, cheering on the Boys in Blue?
Naturally for the majority of you, from the other 33 counties involved in the All-Ireland Championships, that does not sound like the greatest way to view a match. But you are still curious, aren’t you?
Well, thanks to AIB you can now experience the unique electricity of Hill 16 on a big Dublin occasion. Thanks to the first ever GAA 360 video you can see what those 13,000 fans see from that famous terrace and hear what they hear through the eyes and ears of Ballymun Kickhams player Alan Hubbard.
Himself a former Dublin player, Hubbard takes us from training at Kickhams’ to Croke Park to cheer on his clubmates Philly McMahon, Dean Rock, James McCarthy and Davey Byrne against Donegal in their All-Ireland quarter-finals.
Thanks to the cutting edge video technology and Ambisonic Sound we can see and hear all the conversations as Hubbard makes his way down Clonliffe Road, the bubble of excitement as the game gets underway and the thunderous roar as Paul Mannion put the game to bed with his terrific goal late in the second half.
For all GAA fans this is a fascinating and immersive experience and for Dublin supporters it is a chance to relive again and again an experience that is part of the tapestry of who you are.
Watch it below and if you have a Google cardboard or VR headset that is the best way to experience it.
