WATCH: Handshakes turn to handbags as tensions simmer before camogie final

Conan Doherty

She who laughs last, laughs longest.

Cork came for three-in-a-row, Kilkenny refused to bow.

The Liberty Insurance Senior Camogie Final was special. The Cats stormed to glory for the first time in 22 years with a 1-13 to 1-9 victory over their Munster opponents and it was a performance of pure grit as well as talent.

The bite displayed by Kilkenny throughout was probably more down to the fact that they were in an All-Ireland final, vying to end over two decades of hurt, looking to banish the Cork supremacy.

Some of it though might’ve been sparked by the pre-game antics of Hannah Looney.

The Rebels’ wing forward came face to face with Kilkenny’s Collette Dormer during the handshakes before the senior decider threw in and it provoked a reaction from the corner back.

The greatest reaction was seen on the scoreboard though.

Kilkenny 1-13 Cork 1-9.
