WATCH: Dublin fans furious as controversial umpire call costs them All-Ireland

SportsJOE

Cork beat Dublin in the Ladies All-Ireland Senior Football Championship final by a solitary point.

The Rebelettes have clinched their sixth All-Ireland in a row by defeating Dublin 1-07 to 1-06 in Croke Park on Sunday. Sinead Aherne’s 11th hour penalty made it a somewhat nervy finish, but Cork managed to hold on and win the game by the narrowest of margins.

However, Dublin will feel aggrieved as they appeared to have a perfectly good point ruled as a wide at a crucial moment in the match. Carla Rowe’s effort in the 22nd minute was adjudged to be wide by the umpires, but TV replays suggest that it just about crept inside the post, despite it being waved wide.

Had the point been awarded and everything from that moment in the match onwards had played out exactly as we saw it, the match would have ended as a draw and would have gone to a replay.
