Following promotion to Division 1 of the League, big things were expected of Kildare in this year’s Championship and their determination to fulfil these expectations were clear from the word go.
Cian O’Neill’s side exploded out of the blocks in a scintillating first half display which granted them a nine-point half-time cushion.

The Lilywhites, despite coming under pressure from Andy McEntee’s Meath side early on in the second half confirmed their superiority over the Royal County with a strong finish to the game.
Kildare were quicker, they had more bite, determination and drive. All of these attributes, as well as raw and natural pace, were embodied in Daniel Flynn’s second half goal which was set up by their attacking speedster Dave Slattery.
