Who wants it most?
Clare and Wexford refused to give each other an inch on Sunday in Wexford Park. Literally.
Davy Fitz’ men came away from the Division 1B clash winners with four points to spare but it wasn’t their comeback that interested us or even Mark Fanning’s goal for the Leinster men, it was this crazy ruck. This scramble. This downright dirty battle for a sliotar that seemed to never end.
Clare won 0-18 to 1-11 and there was more bad news for the Yellowbellies who lost wing back Shaun Murphy to a serious-looking shoulder injury in the process.
Elsewhere, there were no shortages of of similar battles for a loose ball.
Kevin Kelly bagged two late goals to break Tipperary hearts (can you have your heart broken in the league?) as Kilkenny too came from behind to snatch the win.
TJ Reid raised 10 white flags for Black Cats who sent the Nowlan Park crowd away with smiles on their faces. Except for the travelling support obviously.
The London away fans though were certainly celebrating in Carlow after a 17-point victory.
