The wait is finally over.
Fenor made history on Saturday by beating St Mary’s 1-12 to 0-14 in Walsh Park to claim the Junior A county title.
Sean “The Legend” Cheasty fired over a dramatic, 11th hour winning point for Fenor which saw them claim their first county title in a remarkable 130 years.
Obviously, a drought of over a century and a quarter made the win that much more special, which you could tell from the team’s celebrations after the victory. The club shared a video on their Facebook page of the team performing a rousing rendition of the classic ballad “Wild Mountain Thyme” in the dressing room after the win.
When you haven’t won a county hurling title in 130 years, inhibition goes out the window. Fenor, Waterford Junior Hurling Champions 2015, made history yesterday. You can never take that away. And you can’t beat the GAA.
