The GAA have toyed with awarding two points for a sideline cut for a few years now, but it’s never really become a firm fixture in the rule book.
We think that’s a damn shame as ‘cutting’ a sliothar over the bar from the sideline is a fantastic skill.
It’s when you see it done horribly wrong and instead of a ball arcing for the posts it dribbles six inches from the sideline that you really get to appreciate the difficultly involved.
Not that has stopped Colin Barrett from setting what surely must be a new record as he cuts the ball over the bar at his local GAA ground in Effin in Limerick from 65 metres out.
Granted he’s not on the sideline but it’s still very impressive and if it was so easy sure wouldn’t we see Joe Canning and Richie Hogan at it all the time.
Thanks to Colin Barrett for sending this our way
