Michael O Brien involved in two All Ireland success at senior level.
Warm tributes are being paid to a giant of Cork hurling at all levels who passed away last night after a long illness.
Archdeacon Michael O’Brien, better known throughout his hurling life as ‘The Canon’ coached Cork to an All Ireland win in 1984 and 1990.
That win was famously off the back of Babs Keating’s ‘donkey’s don’t win derbies’ comment in the Munster championship of that summer.
Former players as well as Cork hurling folk have been recalling the man who coached UCC and St Finbarr’s Farranferris to All Ireland success as well as securing Liam Mc Carthy on two occasions.
