Goals from Maurice O’Gorman, Gavin Nugent and Joey Veale helped Waterford to a nine-point 3-12 to 1-9 victory over Sigerson champs, UCC.
Tom McGlinchey's men look intent on ramming the cynical words of the close season down their critics' throats and they're certainly making mugs of us even in January after we didn't give them much of a chance in our GAA movie comparisons just a few weeks ago.
But, after their first final berth in 13 years, they've gone on and picked up the year's first piece of silverware. Perhaps we should watch this space. The Division Four men could just mean business.
Naturally, the champs earned a few plaudits on Twitter.

Commentators ignore outrageous ‘pass-to-himself’ from Kobe McDonald
Sensational skill! To the surprise of few, Kobe McDonald took to Croke Park like a duck to water in Mayo’s All-Ireland quarter-final win over Cork. The AFL-bound teenager scored within 30 seconds of his Croker debut, and continued to dazzle with an outrageous outside-of-the-foot two pointer. In the end, the Crossmolina man finished with 0-04, […]
