Who should make the cut?
With the inter-county scene put on the back burner for now, the club football and hurling championships will be centre of the GAA stage for the foreseeable future.
With that in mind, we’ve decided to make a big deal of the club championships and, over the next few weeks, we’ll be asking our readers to select two teams made up of the best club players of all time in both codes.
For that to happen, boring and all as rules can be, we’ve had to set one pretty important guideline.
Only players who WON A SENIOR ALL-IRELAND CLUB TITLE with their clubs will be eligible for selection here.
Otherwise, it would basically just be the greatest team of players to ever have played Gaelic Football.
There are still a plentiful supply of legends from both codes available for selection but by putting that rule in place, we’re basically preventing a repeat of the Team of the Millennium.
We’ll be asking you to select the team on a line-by-line basis over the next few weeks, starting with the big ball game.
Every team starts with the goalkeeper, but we’ve decided to begin with a bang and to start off with a vote for the members of the full-forward line, which could well end up being the most star-studded line on the pitch.
The likes of Oisin McConville, Frankie Dolan, Mikey Sheehy, Jimmy Keaveney and Michael Meehan are all up for selection; all you have to do is select three from the prestigious list of candidates below.
We don’t envy you your choice.
