Small steps
Ronan Clarke remains in hospital in Belfast after colliding with a goalpost in a club game on Friday night but today has brought news of a slight improvement in his condition.
The 2002 All-Ireland winner with Armagh, and two-time All-Star, was in a serious but stable condition in hospital over the weekend after an incident in a club game between his own side Pearse Og as they faced Maghery in the Armagh senior championship.
The player was reported to have suffered a head injury and was being treated in Craigavon hospital, but according to his father Adrian today, the 32-year-old is now able to breathe on his own,
“He’s just making gradual progress. His condition is stable and he’s in intensive care.”
“We’re taking every step by step. We’re happy enough that he’s in Craigavon, they are in constant contact with the RVH (which is the regional specialist centre for Critical Care and the Regional Trauma Centre). That’s football.”
The player continues to receive the well wishers of GAA stars on Twitter after news of the incident was first reported on Saturday
Delighted the hear that Ronan Clarke is making good progress. Hopefully it's not long until he's back to full health.
