“The Small hit looked shoulder to shoulder. It wasn’t.”
Kerry legend Tomás Ó Sé, took to Twitter to give his opinion on the John Small shoulder that resulted in Eoghan McLaughlin being stretchered off yesterday afternoon.
Originally, Ó Sé thought it was a fair shoulder with unfortunate consequences, but on review has changed his mind.
Images of Small’s elbow seeming to collide with McLaughlin’s head started to circulate social media, with the implication that the Dub’s centre-half had went in with the intention of hurting his opponent.
“The Small hit looked shoulder to shoulder. It wasn’t.
“The top of his shoulder connected with head. Red card. He didn’t go to do him in the head.

“In real time I thought right decision was made. Hindsight is great.
“Pictures of elbows ridiculous. This place is a cesspit.”
Red card all day long.

Mayo went on to win the game in extra time, but Mayo manager James Horan said: “I just thought the Eoghan McLaughlin one in particular, I was pretty close to it, I thought it was very dangerous.
“The way Eoghan fell, you know by the way a guy falls that they’re in bother and the play just sort of went on. I was annoyed about that, yeah.”
