And he still came out on the losing side.
Alan Davey just had one of those days.
One of those days where not even from a bullet from a gun would have made it past him. One of those days where he was able to spread his body with the the flexibility of an elastic band and to the length and breadth of his goals if he needed to.
The St Nathy’s College goalkeeper had one of those days where his individual brilliance in the nets kept his team alive for longer than they possibly deserved to be.
He departed Croke Park without an All-Ireland medal but he did leave with a clean sheet and plenty of admirers too.
A big thanks to @stnathyscollege for a great sporting game yesterday. Very disappointing to lose an All Ireland Final but such a young talented team will no doubt be back again. pic.twitter.com/CwOnyfATSD

Holy Trinity defeated the Ballaghadereen school in the Drummond Cup final and quite comfortably. The Tyrone college were the better team with their slick attacking unit searing through the Roscommon school’s defence regularly.
In the end, it was the white flags that won it for the Ulster men as they raced out 0-19 to 1-6 winners in Saturday’s showpiece. Were it not for Davey, who plays with Sligo club Eastern Harps, the umpire on the other side would have been busy too.
Post Primary GAA shared footage of some of the saves the in-form net minder pulled off, and each of them was only as good as the next.
The first a superb reflex right hand, the second a brave smothering of the onrushing attacker, by the third one, the Tyrone boys must have wondered what they had to do.

Serious stuff from the Sligo man.
