Saturday night Allianz League games rarely disappoint.
There’s a buzz in the night air. The gleam from the floodlights adds to the scene. The cold weather makes us appreciate the dedication of our GAA players. Most of the games are quality.
This Saturday was no different.
There were some mammoth football clashes all over the country.
Division 1 National Football League
Kerry 1-15 Mayo 2-9
MacHale Park, Castlebar was the centre of attention, where a youthful Kerry side came of age. Their young guns were in top form from centre back Gavin Crowley to half forward Micheal Burns.
Despite receiving two red cards, they held onto win by three to score a 1-15 to 2-9 victory.

Dublin 2-13 Tyrone 1-11
Dublin continued where they off last week against Kildare with a 2-13 to 1-11 victory over Tyrone in an ill-tempered Omagh affair. Niall Scully was red-carded in that one, Ciaran Kilkenny was the star.
Division 2 National Football League
Cavan 3-17 Louth 0-13.
Cavan defeated Louth comfortably in Kingspan Breffni Park. Though the travelling side weren’t best pleased with the refereeing performance.
Division 1A Hurling League
Tipperary 1-20 Waterford 1-11
Ronan Maher was in top form for Tipperary who got back to winning ways in Semple Stadium. His delicious sideline cut was a highlight.
His ball-striking from the first minute to the last was a sight to behold, with Offaly legend Joe Dooley giving him high praise.
Great display by Tipp tonight. Ronan Maher giving an exhibition of striking. @TipperaryGAA @RTEgaa

Jason Forde also impressed for the Premier County, and Michael Ryan will be pleased with their showing.
Derek McGrath will feel quite the opposite, with his side having only managed 1-1 in the second half.
Division 1B Hurling League
Galway 2-18 Laois 0-17
The defending All-Ireland champions were pushed all the way, again, but Conor Whelan came up trumps, again. The Kinvara youngster scored his third and fourth goals this week to tip the balance in the Tribesmen’s favour – during the week he scored 2-3 from play for his college NUIG in the Fitzgibbon Cup.
Meanwhile, Meath defeated London in Division 2A of the hurling League, while Warwickshire defeated Longford in 3A.
Allianz HL D2A:Â Meath 1-24 London 1-12
Allianz HL D3A:Â Warwickshire 1-14 Longford 0-11
