Tommy Walsh has left the Kerry football panel, according to reports.
The frightening forward is said to have quit Éamonn Fitzmaurice’s county squad due to a lack of game time.
Walsh rejoined the set-up last season after five years in Australia playing AFL but has found minutes on the field hard to come by – especially compared to his first stint with the Kingdom.
The 28-year-old rose to prominence back in 2008 and came to the immediate attention of clubs down under who were straight on his case trying to poach the Kerins O’Rahilly man to change codes to the oval ball after witnessing his power, aggression, drive and all-round athleticism.
Walsh went on to deliver a league and championship double for the Kingdom in 2009 but after departing for St. Kilda’s and then going to the Sydney Swans, Walsh has fallen right down the pecking order on his return and is said to have grown frustrated at the lack of opportunity.
Tommy Walsh withdraws from @Kerry_Official football panel. Sometimes, for some reason, things don't work out as we thought they would.

According to the Examiner, the player has withdrawn from the panel after seeing no game time during the league final on Sunday, despite an 11-point hammering for Kerry.
His absence has been curious considering the apparent need for some freshness.

But now Walsh is reported to have stepped down, leaving more question marks over the squad ahead of the championship.
