One of the best takeaways from Mayo's All-Ireland win has been the good will shown by rival counties towards the long-suffering Green and Red.
Kerry and their supporters have also been extremely gracious in defeat, and their response to the loss was typified by the actions of Ambrose O'Donovan and Tim Moynihan at Croke Park.
Commentating for Radio Kerry, their first reaction was to give Mayo their flowers, with former player O'Donovan saying: "I take nothing away, you have to give Mayo ferocious credit.
"They played very well, kicked a lot of wides, but the best team won on the day.
"They've done their job brilliantly, managed by Andy Moran, well done. Kerry I felt were second to a lot of ball, and you can take nothing away from Mayo's performance."
Mr. Moynihan then shook the hand of the Mayo commentators from Midwest radio - who were emotionally drained - and added: "Our friend Mr. Kearney behind us, he's crying, and of course, Stephen Grealish, Stephen Grealish, your first All-Ireland final.
"75 years of hurt, we've won our fair share.... but we our gracious people and you can't begrudge them."
Brilliant stuff.
Sound lads as always 👌

Well that’s absolutely brilliant. Rare in any sport to see the record champs show grace in defeat 👍

No shock or surprise in seeing it, it's par for the course, but incredibly magnanimous & classy (in words & actions there) from Tim and Ambrose.

Plenty of big days ahead for that group.
The injuries this year never allowed that time or reps needed to get near top gear.

Legendary Tyrone boss being proven right after staunch anti-AFL stance
He was loud about it! Tyrone’s legendary All-Ireland winning manager, Mickey Harte, has long been banging the anti-AFL drum. As far back as 2006, he was highly critical of the International Rules series, which he felt was taking away from the GAA and providing a platform for players to showcase themselves to Aussie rules teams. Kerry on verge of losing two of their best talents to AFL
Sad times. If Mayo fans think they have it bad with the departures of Kobe McDonald and Oisín Mullin to Australia, Kerry have objectively been hit worse, and it does not look to be getting any better for the Kingdom. According to a report from the Irish Examiner, U20s talents Evan Boyle and Daniel Kirby […]
