No rest for the wicked.
Four Allianz Football League games fell victim to the adverse weather conditions of the weekend gone by. The GAA have confirmed that each of those games will take place this Sunday.
Here are the fixture details.
Division One
Monaghan v Kerry, Inniskeen, 2.30.
Division Two
Cavan v Meath, Kingspan Breffni Park, 2.00.
Division Three
Derry v Offaly, Celtic Park, 2.00.
Sligo v Fermanagh, Markievicz Park, 2.00.
Controversy reigned last weekend, with many of these games postponed at late notice. Former Kerry goalkeeper and current Offaly goalkeeper coach Brendan Kealy summed up the frustration of the counties involved. He declared.
“GAA insistent on having its busiest fixture list during the worst months of the year for weather with no contingency plans!!
“Players all over the country having to rearrange work, personal lives etc. again. This game called off at 12.26 today!!’

The Offaly footballers had travelled all the way up to Derry, either on Saturday night, or late on Sunday morning, only to find out the game would have to be postponed just 94 minutes before the ball was supposed to be thrown in.
One wonders whether this decision could have been made earlier, particularly given the harsh weather was forecast.
Offaly player Nigel Dunne wanted to “to rant about how ridiculous that was,” but claimed the whole situation had him “too tired..to cranky!!”
More problems have arisen with the re-fixtures. With the Sigerson Cup final set to take place on Saturday, a host of players are facing the possibility of two games in two days. Should their colleges progress of course.
- Kerry and UCD midfield duo Jack Barry and Barry O’Sullivan.
- Cavan and DIT duo CaoimhÃn O’Reilly and Enda Flanagan.
- DIT and Meath man Brian Power.
- NUIG and Sligo’s Gerard O’Kelly Lynch.
- UUJ and Derry’s Danny Tallon and Terence O’Brien.
