It will take a lot more than a broken foot to keep Jackie Tyrrell from Croke Park on All-Ireland final day.
Tyrell was an unused sub for Kilkenny’s 1-22 to 1-18 victory against Galway in the senior hurling final, having broken a bone in his foot before the semi -final clash against Waterford.
Despite not playing a single second of hurling on Sunday, Tyrrell’s rousing half-time speech was seemingly instrumental in inspiring the Cats to their 36th championship.
Tyrell also received his ninth All-Ireland medal on the day which is remarkable considering the X-Ray of his foot that he shared on Twitter after the game.
His toe is more screw than digit.

Nine medals for Tyrrell, one for the screw.
