Some lads can do it all.
Tooreen defeated Ballyhaunis to claim their 28th Mayo senior hurling Championship on Saturday, with county football panellist Fergal Boland a key figure in their triumph.
Ballyhaunis, who have Mayo senior star, Keith Higgins, in their ranks were bidding for their fourth title in a row, but were comprehensively beaten on a score line of 2-10 to 0-6.
Of that Tooreen 2-10 tally, 2-2 of it came from the stick of Boland, who was later named the man-of-the-match.

The conditions were atrocious in Adrian Freeman park, and both sides made sloppy errors throughout, but former U.L students and Mayo teammates Boland, and David Kenny were undeterred for Tooreen.
Boland, who first made his name as a hurler in Mayo, made a few Championship appearances for Stephen Rochford’s side this summer, and will be hoping he can nail down a starting place over the next few years, while Kenny will be hoping to make his way back into the county’s football set-up.
BIG moment in the game as Fergal Boland's long range shot creeps over the line. @TooreenHurlers lead after 48mins 1-7 0-5 pic.twitter.com/CMUYFwsOlN

He is the latest in a long list of GAA stars to show that they can excel at both codes. Recently we have seen renowned footballers Diarmuid Connolly and Con O’Callaghan light up the Dublin hurling Championship, while Tipperary’s John ‘Bubbles’ O’Dwyer was doing it the other way around.
