One of the greatest hurlers of all time has passed away.
The death of iconic Tipperary hurler Jimmy Doyle was announced on Monday.
Doyle, who was widely regarded as one of the all-time greats, won nine Munster titles, six All-Irelands and seven National Leagues during his storied tenure playing for the Premier County.
The Thurles Sarsfields forward was also named on the Hurling Team of the Century in 1984, to mark the centenary of the GAA, and claimed a spot on the Hurling Team of the Millennium in 1999.
It was with great regret that we learned of the passing of the great Jimmy Doyle. Winner of 6 All Ireland titles and a gentleman. RIP
