Laois’ involvement in the All-Ireland SFC is in doubt following last weekend’s win over Armagh.
The Leinster side defeated Armagh by 1-10 to 0-10 in the opening round of qualifiers in O’Moore Park in Portlaoise on Saturday.
Laois made seven substitutes in the match, one more than is permitted under the current rules. Shane Murphy was unlucky number seven as he came on as a black card sub for Brendan Quigley in the 73rd minute with less than a minute left in the clash. Armagh boss Kieran McGeeney was seen trying to alert the linesman as Murphy was brought on.
The midlanders were drawn against Clare for an away game in round 2A of the qualifiers on July 2, but the GAA’s Central Competitions Control Committee could decide that Armagh will take their place if Laois are found to have used more than the allowed number of substitutes during the victory.
