Kildare have just beaten Dublin

Champions

Ben Kiely

It’s a great time to be a fan of Kildare GAA.

In the past couple of weeks, Kildare have:

  • Defeated the GAA in the Newbridge or Nowhere
  • Sent 2017 All-Ireland finalists Mayo crashing out of the Senior football championships in the qualifiers
  • Won the U20 Leinster football championships

That’s right, Kildare beat Dublin in the U20 Leinster football final at O’Connor Park, Tullamore on Friday evening. The Lilywhites scored a dominant 1-15 to 0-10 victory over the Dubs to become provincial champions.

Jimmy Hyland was the top scorer for the victors. He bagged himself eight points, two of which came from frees. Tony Archbold got the game’s only goal. Tom Keane was the top marksman for Dublin with a return of four points, one from a free.
