Ireland went absolutely nuts for the enthralling Munster final between Kerry and Cork

What a game.

What a bloody game.

Kerry and Cork served up an absolute clinker of a Munster final that ended 2-15 to 3-12 in Killarney.

Five goals, hard-hitting tackles, mistakes, subs, black cards, dubious decisions, Joe Brolly and late, audacious heroics – it had all the makings of a classic.

And, even though both sides tried their best to close up shop and keep the game tight, they proved that defensive football can actually be a good spectacle (if both teams are rubbish at defending).

The game of the championship so far though was carried by two cut-throat attacks as the two old enemies went at it for provincial honours and a place in the All-Ireland quarter final. And Cork were denied victory with the last kick of the game by an outrageous Fionn Fitzgerald score.

They’ll have to do it again in a replay on July 18 and if the Twitter reaction to today’s game is anything to go by, the whole country will be tuning in.
