Limerick have been dealt a major blow ahead of their Tailteann cup clash against Wicklow this weekend.
According to Limerick Live, Darragh O'Hagan has lost his appeal against a red card he suffered against Wexford.
O'Hagan was dismissed due to a coming together with Wexford player, Liam Coleman in midfield after a contested ball. (You can watch the incident below).
The Treaty County manager, Jimmy Lee was in dismay revolving the red card and claimed he would be "wronging" Darragh O'Hagan if he didn't go through the appeals process.
"To be fair, I wasn't happy with the sending off", Lee said.
"It was harsh. I normally don't give out about refs but I'm very disappointed about that decision.
"I think, on reflection, if the ref looks at the video, he will see that Darragh (O'Hagan) was trying to lift his leg. The rest is history as they say.”
Fans on social media have been debating whether referee, Seamus Mulhare was harsh in brandishing the red card for the Limerick man.
One user on X said: "Is this not incredibly harsh? I'm usually good to not look at these incidents with green-tinted glasses but can very much understand Jimmy Lee's frustration with this call."
Another user agreed the decision was soft, adding: "There’s absolutely nothing in that! Maybe accidentally contact when he was trying to free himself but definitely nothing that warrants card! Not even a yellow never mind a red! Ridiculous!"
Some X users however did agree with Mulhare's decision: "If you kick lads on the ground in the head you get a red card, that’s generally how it works. GAA could do with sending a lorry load of rule books down to Limerick".
The Shannonsiders take on Wicklow in Aughrim on Saturday knowing that a defeat will end their season.
