It was another great day for Slaughtneil.
The Derry outfit convincingly beat Cavan Gaels by eight points in the Ulster Championship final.
It’s ridiculous what that club is doing, they’ve now successfully defended their Ulster hurling and football crowns.
Think about that, one small village dominating an entire province in both codes and the camogie players are the exact same.
The standard of excellence is ridiculous, they make what they’re doing look easy but it’s anything but.
For Slaughtneil, now they’ll be hoping to make it to the All-Ireland final on St.Patrick’s Day in both codes, that’s a long time for their championship to be going on.
But they’ll keep going, they always do and do so with pride.
Their star player, Chrissy McKaigue took to Twitter to share a stat about how many games they’ve played this year.
In 2016/17 our club hurlers and footballers have played a total of 27 championship games. We have won 25 of them. We look forward collectively to the next set of challenges after Christmas. Time for a few days off! #Slaughtneil

“In 2016/17 our club hurlers and footballers have played a total of 27 championship games. We have won 25 of them. We look forward collectively to the next set of challenges after Christmas. Time for a few days off!”
It’s a crazy amount of games, and it’s a crazy winning stat.
Anyone that plays GAA will know the intensity brought into a championship match, it’s hell for leather for sixty minutes and nothing is left on the pitch.
Time and time again Slaughtneil play championship games and time and time again they keep on winning.
Their 25 wins mean that Slaughtneil have won 93% of their games since 2016 with their only defeats coming at the hands of Cuala in the All-Ireland semi-final and Dr Crokes in the All-Ireland final.
The path is now laid out for Slaughtneil in the football championship with Nemo Rangers the only team separating them and a St.Patrick’s Day final when they face off on 17 February.
