Hey, RTÉ! 2012 called and they want their token hurling report back.
We’ve all made mistakes. Even Joe Brolly.
But, as gaffes go, RTÉ’s blunder on Thursday evening caused a lot of fury and hurt, particularly amongst the hurling community.
As Kerry prepare for their historic Leinster championship clash with Carlow on Sunday, RTÉ’s report on the Six One News was telling a completely different story.
Limerick legend Ciaran Carey leads the Kingdom into the All-Ireland senior hurling championship this weekend after the county won the Christy Ring last year but, according to the news report that aired this week, John Meyler was still in charge and they were preparing for the Christy Ring final.
Former players Colin Harris and Darragh O’Connell featured in the segment and, as you could imagine, the footage, the facts, and general tone was out of date.
The sunny weather gave it away…

With Kerry hurling on a serious rise and a genuine buzz around this weekend’s action, fans were left disappointed at the round-up.
And, naturally, they aired their grievances.
RTE News has just featured a truly bizarre report on Kerry hurling. It is several years out of date #GAA
