Tomás Ó Sé and Sean Cavanagh get stuck into it over Kerry loss
Tomás Ó Sé took issue with Sean Cavanagh’s claim that Kerry ‘wilted’ in their semi-final loss to Armagh.
“It reminded me of the ’02 All-Ireland final, four points up at halftime, maybe thinking the job was done,” said Cavanagh. “Kerry wilted.”
But Ó Sé wasn’t having it.
“I don’t buy they wilted, I don’t buy they choked. I think Kerry weren’t at the level all year.”

Kieran McGeeney gave a brilliant interview to RTÉ after Armagh’s All-Ireland semi-final win over Kerry.
McGeeney took aim at the negative commentary surrounding Gaelic football in general, and hailed his team’s bouncebackability.
“Two teams really wanted to go at it and win it at the end there, nobody was looking for f*cking penalties,” he said with a laugh, referencing Armagh’s four penalty shoot-out losses in the last few years.
He pointed to the analysis that surrounded Kerry’s quarter final win over Derry – many felt it was boring and criticised it, but the Mullaghbawn man says games ‘take on a life of their own.’
“Each game takes on a life of its own,” he told RTÉ.
“But there’s a lot of enjoyment in it. People keep knocking the GAA….I’m the one that’s told I’m dour. I’m listening to the tv, everybody giving out.
“But it’s funny, the boys were watching past games of ourselves and Kerry from 20 years ago and they’re just laughing at us.
Mickey Harte ‘not ready for the pipe and slippers’
BBC GAA presenter Sarah Mulkerrins put Mickey Harte to the pin of his collar over his reign as Derry manager.
Harte’s tenure began brilliantly winning Division One of the National Football League but faded disappointingly with a poor championship campaign. Galway woman Mulkerrins asked all the hard questions of Harte, including why he thinks the dip in form happened.
“It’s hard to put your finger on it,” said Harte.
“I suppose the Donegal defeat knocked the confidence out of the players to a large degree. It took a lot to get over that.”
“I’m still not ready for the pipe and the slippers. No, I like what I’m doing managing at this level. Look at it. We will see what will happen.”
Jack O’Connor says Armagh crowd was ‘a factor in the game.’
Kerry supporters were substantially outnumbered by Armagh in the All-Ireland semi-final on Saturday afternoon. Kerry manager Jack O’Connor says this ‘was a factor’ in Armagh’s 1-18 to 1-16 win after extra-time.
“The goal gave them momentum and the crowd drove them on,” he told reporters.
“They outnumbered us fairly substantially out there,” said O’Connor. “And I thought the crowd was a factor in the game. No question about it, it just lifted Armagh and we tried very hard, but it was hard to arrest that momentum.
“Armagh have not been here for a while, so they were bound to come in big numbers. It is a Bank Holiday weekend up north. Armagh are great supporters, great followers and they came in big numbers.”
