Dublin’s official Twitter account pokes fun at Lee Keegan after black card

Jesus, lads.

It has become clearer and clearer in the eyes of Gaels all over the country that the battle between Lee Keegan and Diarmuid Connolly is one to be savoured.

It’s become clearer that the pair respect each other and that Connolly, one of the most talented men in Ireland, does well to get any sniff of change out of the Mayo back.

That duel in the replay of the All-Ireland football final was cut short in the first half though when the Westport native was sent to the bench by referee Maurice Deegan.

Keegan had kicked a goal – a cracking goal at that – to fire Mayo briefly ahead but, eventually, Connolly got into the game himself.

He curled over spectacularly with his left foot before winning the next kickout – a poor one at that – and Rob Hennelly gave the defender no real option but to drag Connolly down and receive a black card.

It was a tough blow, especially considering John Small avoided a blatant one earlier in the game, and most people just felt a little sympathy for the defender who had to act or risk a goal.

It was a shame that the battle ended.

Dublin’s official Twitter account though enjoyed it.
