Dublin & Wexford bosses speak out on heated sideline confrontation

He said: “Myself and Niall on the sideline. I think the two of us got excited.

“We both used to hurl, we're both passionate about our counties. It didn't spill over, there was nothing about it.

“A couple of words exchanged, which is grand. We're well used to that, there's no problem.”

Rossiter said the situation was quickly resolved once the match ended and stressed there were no hard feelings between the pair.

He added: "We both said we'll see each other in May. And we'll see each other in May. There's no hard feelings.

“We've all been there… you still have to shake hands at the end of the day and it's something very similar on the sideline.”

Ó Ceallacháin also played down the incident and echoed the Wexford manager’s comments about the intensity of the occasion.

He said: “Myself and Keith? Grand.

“It means a lot to him, it means a lot to me. It was the sharp end of it there, trying to win a big game. We shook hands afterwards. That's absolutely no issue.”

On the pitch, Donal Burke led Dublin’s scoring with 1-9, while John Hetherton struck twice to the net. Simon Roche impressed for Wexford with 0-10 as the visitors stayed unbeaten in the league.

Dublin ended the game with 13 players after red cards for Conor Groarke and Paddy Smyth, but Chris Crummey’s late equaliser secured a share of the spoils in an entertaining contest.
