Can’t blame a team for trying.

Pre-season is upon us and many of us are already cursing its icy grip.

Christmas seems a distant memory already and it is sluicing further away with each ping or vibrate of your phone.

Training, gym, weights, gym, training, diets, laps, gym. When, where, what, how… when is it again?

2017 is here and your coaches have been plotting while you’ve been trying to get your head showered from the constant GAA grind. Here we go again. There goes that phone. Again.

Donegal legend Eamon McGee has been at the coalface long enough – and met enough lads who’ve had enough excuses – to tell some stories.

This afternoon, the 2012 All-Ireland winner shared a screenshot of the WhatsApp messages going around his club side last night.

These messages were sent mere minutes before the club’s 8pm training session. Fellow county star Odhrán MacNiallais did not seem one bit impressed.

McGee has retired from county football now and pouring everything into his club pursuits. This will not do. Not at all.
