DIT will have say in the destination of the Sigerson Cup this year, and with the form they’ve shown on their route to the semi-finals and the weekend stages of the competition, few would be surprised if that destination was Dublin.
Billy O’Loughlin’s army gave IT Carlow a nice clipping last week. Their explosive full forward line of Shane Dempsey, Glenn O’Reilly and Conor Loftus did the damage that day as they set up a quarter final clash with giant-killers IT Tralee.

Last week, a David Clifford inspired Tralee travelled up to the Dub and defeated Queen’s. This week, their fortunes were contrasting as the Dublin institute came down to Austin Stack Park in Tralee and dominated them.
Crucially, that man Clifford was ruled out for this week’s game after getting injured at the weekend playing for his county.
DIT have only conceded one goal in this whole competition so far.

That shot them into a 2-5 to 0-3 lead, and it really was all over bar the shouting.
The away side only got better and better as the game wore on, and with their dander up, they took advantage of a tired Tralee. This tiredness was perhaps best portrayed by the half-time substitution of their centre back and key player Gavin Crowley, who had starred in Kerry’s triumph over Mayo at the weekend.

By half-time the gap was ten points. By full-time, that had stretched to 16, with the final score reading 3-17 to 1-7.
DIT march on, despite being deprived of their Dublin star and scholarship holder Brian Howard. IT Tralee, meanwhile can be proud of their efforts in getting this far.
