Is it going to be a case of third time lucky?

Diarmuid Connolly’s quest to play in Dublin’s All-Ireland semi final replay against Mayo hit another setback, last night.

The forward’s suspension was upheld by the Central Hearings Committee, on Wednesday night, and his latest bid to have it overturned with didn’t go any better.

The GAA’s Central Appeals Committee heard his case and, after a long meeting, they upheld Connolly’s one-match ban. It means he will miss tomorrow’s game at Croke Park.

In a SportsJOE poll, which had more than 2,700 votes, two-thirds of our readers felt Connolly should be suspended for the match.

The 28-year-old St Vincent’s forward can still bring the case to the Disputes Resolution Authority today, which, according to reports this morning, is likely to happen this morning.

The saga continues.
