Croke Park is 101 today and Twitter has been remembering some of its finest moments

Happy birthday, Croker

Conan Doherty

The field of dreams.  101 not out.

Croke Park is celebrating its birthday today after a whole century – and then some – of making and breaking the dreams of millions.

Remember that Gladiator quote?

“The beating heart of Rome is not the marble of the Senate.  It’s the sand of the Colosseum.”

Croke Park is the beating heart of Ireland.  Croke Park in all its glory has been the very core for way more than the GAA.  It has been the focal centre for a whole way of life.

Today, they are asking Gaels all over the world to tweet their favourite memories in Croke Park which stands today more spectacular than ever.

Obviously we’re all thinking the 2004 quarter final, right? The time Derry beat Westmeath to spark a pitch invasion before the second semi final that day. We’re all thinking that.

Some people admirably mixed it up though with a wide range of memories from the centre of so many people’s universe. Happy birthday, Croke Park.

And last but by no means least…

@CrokePark when Niall Horan was living his dream!, that was up there with the best! ❤️
