Four points in injury time for the champions ended years of heartbreak for Sarsfields as they got the better of Athy on Sunday in the Kildare county final.

A 25-year gap was bridged in Cusack Park on Sunday as Miltown St Josephs proved too strong for Cooraclare in the Banner county showpiece.

Wexford Senior Football Championship Final:  St James’ 0-11 St Martin’s 1-6

First time finalists and now first time winners, as St James’ provided a big shock in the Wexford county final on Sunday.

Wexford senior hurler Mattthew O’Hanlon was the key as he helped his team to the two-point win from his role at midfield.

The 23-year wait is over for the Magpies after Sunday’s seven-point win over old foes Dromcollogher Broadford. Having lost the 2011 and 2012 deciders, Sunday’s result was sweet with Stephen Kelly grabbing 1-3 in the win.

Donegal Senior Football Championship Final Naomh Conaill 0-11 St Eunan’s 0-10

Previous wins in 2005 and 2010 didn’t dampen the celebrations for Naomh Conaill on Sunday as they edged their rivals by the bare minimum in the county final.

Eoghan McGettigan’s red card threatened to derail their title push and they battled against some odd refereeing decisions to secure a third ever county title.

Monaghan Senior Football Championship Final Scotstown 2-12 Monaghan Harps 0-9

Harps did their best but in the end the 92-year gap to their last county title will extend into a 93rd season as they were beaten by a sharper Scotstown outfit in Clones on Sunday.

The champions led by 2-4 to 0-5 at the break and never looked back in the second half.

Cork Senior Football Championship Final Castlehaven 0-10 Nemo Rangers 0-10

These two sides will have to do it all over again after a thrilling draw in Pairc Ui Rinn on Sunday. There was late controversy as Conor Lane appeared to blow his whistle before the full three minutes of additional time was up. Castlehaven also disagreed with an umpire waving wide a late potentially match winning effort from Mark Collins with the replay set for next Sunday at 3.30 in the same venue.

Laois Senior Football Championship Final Emo 2-9 Portlaoise 0-15

Laois legend Mick Lawlor almost proved the game-winning hero for his club on Sunday as Emo pushed nine-in-a-row chasing Portlaoise all the way in O’Moore Park.

But not even his two goal salvo could steer the challengers to glory and the replay is fixed for next Saturday night, with the winner out in Leinster action less than 20 hours later.
