Conor Glass makes absolute bits of not one but two Sydney stragglers

Get the hell out of the Derry man's way!

Niall McIntyre

Pure Derry beef.

Conor Glass has made an astounding rise through the AFL ranks with Hawthorn in the last few weeks.

The former Derry minor captain made his senior debut two weeks ago against the Dockers, and the Watty Graham’s club man acquitted himself like a seasoned professional.

His performance from the half back position that day earned him a starting berth for Saturday’s clash with the Sydney Swans, and boy is he making headway.

The Hawthorns recorded a six-point victory over the Sydney side, bringing their seven game winning streak to an end, and in turn keeping their hopes of making the finals alive.

For us, it’s all about that dashing Derry man who is taking to the professional senior ranks with some gusto and style.

Glass is a man of some stock, this is a man who who played wing back as a fourth year for St. Pat’s Maghera – four years above his age group.

This is a man who captained the Derry minor footballers.

This is a man who would be starting for Derry was he not snapped up by Australia.

This is a man who smashed two Syndey Swans in the one bloody go on Saturday Down Under.

The Hawks are reaping the rewards from the faith they placed in a warrior and a phenomenally skilled sportsman.
By all accounts, Glass was at his powerful best on Saturday and this is a career graph that is only going in one direction.
Ireland’s loss is Australia’s gain.
