A frightening thing to think about really.
Peter Canavan made a rather scary Dublin comparison on The Sunday Game after watching the capital demolish a really fancied Mayo side.
Dessie Farrell had what was probably his most impressive win as a Dublin manager, engineering an incredible performance that saw his side completely take Mayo apart.
With all of the talk about veteran stars such as Stephen Cluxton and Paul Mannion returning to the squad, Colm Basquel’s return went under the radar, but he has proved the most influential.
The Ballyboden star scored an incredible 2-2, as he led the charge from the front, while other players like Brian Fenton looked to have returned to their old dominant selves.
Once Dublin started to run the bench as well you could see the depth in the squad with people like Jack McAffrey and Dean Rock coming on to have a huge impact in the match.
The Dubs will always be compared to the six-in-a-row team as they have set a ridiculously high benchmark, but Canavan made the rather frightening point that they didn’t look far off that sort of form.
But to their credit, the two men answered the call for their club and delivered to turn
“In fairness to Mayo they made a great contribution in the first-half to what was a very entertaining first-half of football, and very open.
“But at half-time today in the debate among the boys, Tomás said we’re not sure of this Dublin team because you can’t really compare them to the great Dublin team.
“Well in the second-half they had all the hallmarks of the great Dublin team that won six in-a-row.”
Dublin will now play Monaghan in the All-Ireland semi-final, whilst Kerry will take on Derry in the other match to determine who will make this year’s final.
