A small but touching gesture.
The BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards were held in the Odyssey Arena in Belfast tonight.
The main award of the night was given to Andy Murry, while Northern Ireland manager Michael O’Neill picked picked up the gong for best coach of 2015.
Each year, the ceremony pauses for reflection and remembers sports stars who have passed away over the previous 12 months, and this year the BBC remembered Aaron Devlin.
The Derry inter-county footballer was only 23 when he died last July after tragically contracting an aggressive strain of meningitis.
The county’s GAA community was hit hard by Aaron’s passing, and will undoubtedly appreciate the small, but thoughtful gesture.
