Austin Gleeson’s goal has been named the pick of this year’s Hurling Championship

Waterford man's solo strike cream of the crop

Kevin McGillicuddy

If there was two goalkeepers they wouldn’t have saved any of these beauties.

Our sympathy does go out to the men between the sticks in hurling.

You’re the last line of defence and then you have to face forwards who can strike a ball at very high speed directly at you.

Madness some might say.

And to be fair there isn’t much any of them could have done with these wonder goals that have been selected by the GAA as the best of 2014.

Waterford’s Austin Gleeson gets the top spot with a glorious goal against Cork while Tipperary’s Seamus Callanan, Richie Power and TJ Reid of Kilkenny, and Séamus Harnedy make up the top five.
