Richie Towell may need a crash course in game management.
Sitting pretty at 4-1, Dundalk pretty much needed to jog around for twenty five minutes and their grip on the SSE Airtricity League title would have become truly vicelike.
That makes Richie Towell’s decision to flick a trailing boot into the jaw of St. Pat’s Jamie McGrath all the more inconceivable.
McGrath’s teammate Chris Forrester rushed to confront the Lilywhites midfielder and both Forrester and Towell were booked in the ensuing scuffle.
Soccer Republic‘s Alan Cawley was in no doubt that the kick was intentional as he expressed his disappointment in Towell after the game.
“We’ve waxed lyrical about Richie on this show every week. He’s been a fantastic player the past couple of years but he knew exactly what he was doing there.”
Rather unbelievably, Towell may face no retrospective action for the kick that could have seriously injured his opponent.
