VINE: Substitute Shane Long keeps Ireland’s Euro 2016 qualification hopes alive with late equaliser

What a finish!

Ireland are making a habit of these late goals.

It was John O’Shea against Germany but it’s Shane Long who will get all the plaudits this evening for rescuing Ireland’s chances of qualifying for Euro 2016.

An 84th minute substitute, Long made sure he’d make the most of his cameo by taking advantage of some sloppy Polish defending to dink a breaking ball over Lukasz Fabianski.

The 90th minute goal turned a devastating loss into a credible draw and leaves Martin O’Neill’s side in fourth spot of Group D and in with a shout of qualification for France next summer.
